FNSD-Analysis Based on Usage Rate of Items

The items can also be classified into categories according to descending order of their usage rate, or movement as follows:

  • F denotes Fast Moving items
  • N denotes Normal moving items
  • S denotes Slow Moving items
  • D denotes Dead items

FNSD – analysis is particularly useful to combat obsolete items.

FNSD analysis is applicable when proper arrangement of stocks in stores for distribution and handling is necessary.

Some times, instead of FNSD the term FSN analysis is used. In that case F stands for fast moving items, S for slow moving and N for non-moving items.
