Comparison between Nodal Analysis and Mesh Analysis

It is inevitable to ask that which of the method is better? This can be decided over two factors discussed as below:

  1. First we compare the number of equations required for each method. If the circuit has fewer nodes than meshes, we should use the node voltage method. If the circuit has fewer meshes than nodes, it will be easier to use the mesh current method.
  2. If the number of equation for either method is same, then it becomes important that what information (voltage or current) is required. If branch or mesh currents are required, it may be better to use mesh analysis. If node voltages are required, then we should use nodal analysis.
