WHAT IS PRIMARY MEMORY AND ITS TYPES?

The memory stores the instructions and data for an executing program. Memory is characterized by the smallest addressable unit as one of the following.

  • Byte addressable
  • Word addressable

Random Access Memory (RAM)

RAM is Read/write memory, Random access, and data is temporarily stored.

Memory Registers

Register memory is the smallest and fastest memory in a computer. It is not a part of the main memory and is located in the CPU in the form of registers.
